Master Gardener Event Archive: Children's Water Festival -- Save the Date
Posted by margo on Friday, May 25 @ 12:56:26 EDT (988 reads)

writes "Children’s Water Festival – October 25 & 26

Each October since 1999, over 1000 local fourth grade students participate in a two-day festival in Albuquerque where they learn the importance of water from numerous perspectives. It is a big event held at the Convention Center with over 20 presenters each day. The Cooperative Extension Service’s 4-H division is one of the official sponsors and the Master Gardeners have participated either as presenters or volunteers for the past five years. The AAEMG Board has approved this as an official volunteer opportunity.

This year’s festival will be held October 25 & 26 and is now called the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Children’s Water Festival. Approximately 25 volunteers are needed each day to serve as assistants to the presenters and timekeepers/guides for each class. This means volunteers will be actively involved with escorting groups to their activities or they will assist presenters as needed. The hours are from about 8:15 am-1:30 pm, and volunteers receive breakfast, lunch and free parking.

For more information, visit our website at www.waterfestnm.com or contact Katie Babuska, Festival Director, at 505-975-0036.
